Making in-roads in the halls of power

In a recent townhall meeting in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, the topic of neurodiversity took center stage as our very own Kech Orisakwe delivered a powerful message of inclusion for the Autistic and developmentally disabled community.

The townhall, attended by the cities mayor, community members, local officials, and stakeholders, provided a platform for discussing issues relevant to the autistic community. Kech's speech highlighted the challenges faced by individuals with ASD, emphasizing the importance of the cities acceptance, inclusion and support for this community, especially for those living below the poverty line.

One key point addressed by Kech was the need for the cities implementation of inclusive job readiness programs where neurodivergent participants can thrive through their unique way of experiencing the world around them while building independence and strong social circles as they contribute to society.

His message resonated deeply with the audience, sparking discussions about how the city council and its community can work together with Autism Ally Group to ensure that neurodivergent individuals have equal opportunities and are inclusively treated with respect and dignity.

Overall, the advocate's speech served as a catalyst for positive action, inspiring attendees to become more engaged in supporting autism acceptance and advocacy efforts within Seat Pleasant and beyond.

It's thanks to your support that we're making the progress that we are in service this community but our work is far from over. We work hard to find any inroad we can with local and state officials in order to effect positive change for the community we serve. If you are inspired by the work we do, please consider donating to our cause or connecting us with officials you may have connections with. Every little bit helps.
